  • Tom Coughlin and Bill Belichick showdown

The world wide web is abuzz right now as one of the biggest and most celebrated days in the US is about to kickoff. At exactly 6:30 EST on the 5th of February this year, the Super Bowl 2012 live stream will finally start! This day is for both young and old, the dead and the living, cats and dogs, boys and girls, and for everyone who loves the sheer pleasure of watching a football match.

Did you know that the day on which the Super Bowl is played is now considered a de facto national holiday in the United States? Yes, it’s that big! This holidays is called Super Bowl Sunday. This year, the 46th Super Bowl is headed by coaches Tom Coughlin of the NY Giants and Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots. • The 2072 Olympics and the domaining business

Did you know that the domain 2072olympics.com is not yet taken? Yep, it’s not yet taken as of today. I just checked from 2016 to 2068 because I’m that curious. The olympics committee and some domain squatters registered a lot of domains from 2012Olympics.com to 2068Olympics.com. The 2068 Olympics domain is not registered by an official committee of the Olympics. I wonder why domainers want to spend a lot of money for it and registered it 56 years early! I don’t know if they can sell it in the future or just use the domain. (more…)

  • SOPA: Why should we vote no?

Lex parsimoniae. Because if we vote yes, we’re doomed! On January 24 this year, the Congress will vote to pass internet censorship in the Senate, even though the vast majority of Americans are opposed. I don’t think I should be worried about this, but I guess I should be because a lot of people are damned worried about this bill.

  • SM Advantage sneaky points earning system

SM Advantage sneaky points earning system

I just noticed this now, that the mechanics of SM Advantage in their FAQs page is a lie. I noticed this after buying something at SM Appliance Center that is worth 200k. Suppose to be, you’ll be awarded 1 point for each 200 pesos spent. You may refer to the screenshot below:

    smadvantage-faqs

So I should receive around 1000 points, for a 200k php spent, right? To my surprise, I was only awarded half of it. I received 500 points for a 200,000-peso purchase. I then checked my other purchases and found out that SM actually awards 1 point for every 200 pesos spent, except for SM Appliance Center, SM Supermarket, Hypermarket, Our Home, and Watsons which is 1 point every P400 pesos spent.

Lesson Learned: Don’t believe what you see in SM’s advertisements and what they wrote in their FAQs page. They are sneaky big bastards.

UPDATE: SM seems to have updated their FAQs page. We can now see that we only earn 1 point for 400 pesos spent in selected stores:

Modify the WordPress Tag Cloud Widget Easily

There are numerous ways of how to modify the WordPress tag cloud widget, but there’s an easy way to modify it. I searched about how to modify such, and landed on different blogs sharing different methods to modify the widget. I also landed on this page which tells everyone to modify the WordPress core. But I don’t think it’s the best solution to customize your WordPress Tag cloud.

  • Google Profiles redirects to Google Plus and why it’s annoying

Google Profiles redirects to Google Plus and why it’s annoying

If you’ve noticed this, then you’ve noticed it! Google Profiles now redirects to Google Plus. This is not really a big deal for everyone, but a big deal for vain people who already fell in love with their custom Google Profiles friendly URL. If your name is Paul and you have a Google profile with the URL profiles.google.com/paul, it will now be redirected to plus.google.com/(the 20 annoying random integers here)

Good thing the Google user with the username Paul didn’t create a Google+ profile yet (as of writing this post). But when the time comes that he creates a Google+ profile, his lovely /paul friendly URL in Google Profiles will be gone to oblivion and will be converted to a Google Plus user ID.
