BPI Dormancy Fee Waived Since June 2014

I don’t know if anyone noticed, but the dormancy fee and below minimum fee for BPI accounts was waived since June of 2014. Before that month last year, my accounts that are dormant for many months and are below the minimum daily balance was charged with a dormancy fee. $5.00 USD for dollar accounts and PHP200 for Peso accounts. But after that month, I’ve noticed that my dormant accounts with below minimum balance are not charged with fees anymore.

I have accounts with 0.00 balance and every month, it will go negative 200 for Pesos and negative 5 for Dollars. But now it’s just zero. No fees of whatsoever.

Other accounts with 0 are automatically closed every end of the month. But now, even if your account has 0 balance, it will never be closed. I wonder how many years would it remain open as I have no transactions in those accounts and I already transferred all my funds in DBS, and I also opened a bank account in UOB.

Anyway, if you’ve also noticed that the BPI dormancy fee was already waived or what I noticed is just mine, you can leave a comment below.

  1. You gave me hope! I’ll check mine. I opened a BPI and even BDO savings accounts intended to save for my son’s education and for health expenses. So sad because we had to use the funds because of some financial issues last year. I need the BPI right now to transfer PayPal funds because I’m encountering issues with my main bank (PayPal money transferred is missing). Wish me luck! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh nice. Yep you can still use your BPI account even if it’s out of funds. As for BDO, it’s probably closed right now if your funds are below 300. You should have at least 300 pesos per month for the service fee. ๐Ÿ™

Same goes with my BPI account. I have opened one last April 2014 and withdrawn everything last June 2014. My SOA’s are reflecting P0 (zero) balance up until 2016 since I used the same account again on September 2016. I thought the money I transferred to that account will be deducted by the dormancy fee but there was none. I’m still using it till now and so far, no problem encountered. Just make sure your balance is within the minimum ADB required. ๐Ÿ™‚
